P65 Standards Explanation
The warning states, “cancer and reproductive harm,” it is due to the presence of a chemical called di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP), which is commonly used in PVC products.
It’s important to note that the warning does not mean that the product is unsafe to use. In fact, the product is perfectly safe to use. It carries a Proposition 65 warning label simply because it contains trace amounts of a chemical that has been shown to cause harm in high doses.
In the case of the PVC water valve, the amount of DEHP present is very small and poses little to no risk to human health.
